Experience a thousand year old history, as you interact with the Warli Culture. Learn to draw Warli Art from the Artisans. Participate in the traditional Tarpa Dance. Explore nature and the village lifestyle while on photo-walks , participate in village activities , games and relish the local cuisine.
All this and more while capturing village stills and memories to take back with you under the guidance of our facilitator Mr Girish Menon who is a street photographer from Mumbai having 10 years of professional experience and 3 years of teaching experience.
Through this photo tour, you will learn to discover the principles of street photography in a rustic setting which offers a unique photo opportunities. You will also learn the various techniques of using a camera to manipulating light , depth (space) and time to maximise the aesthetics whilst keeping the editorial content honest.
Things to keep in mind :- Please carry full charged batteries and a tripod if you’d like to exploit the night-photography opportunities. It doesnt matter what kind of camera you have .. be it a point & shoot or a DSLR your are welcome to explore and click
The Itinerary for this tour is as follows :-
Day 1
8:30 am.Pickup in Jeep from Palghar Railway Station. (Guests will need to take the 07:45 am Dhanu Shuttle from Virar.)
10:30 am. Arrival and welcome by the Villagers.
PRE LUNCH- Explore Warli Customs, interact with Warli’s, understand the culture and traditions. Visit a Warli Home, explore their Medicinal Herbs, Hunting & Agricultural Tools etc. Understand Warli Art and the ways of the village.
LUNCH- Enjoy Local Cuisine, cooked by the Villagers.
POST LUNCH- Photography brief and a few games followed by a walk through the village observing and photographing the culture and lifestyle. On returning to the campsite, share your photos, observations and discoveries with each other for feedback.
08:00 pm Watch, Photograph and Participate in the traditional Tarpa Dance around a bonfire under the gorgeous night sky followed by dinner.
Day 2
5:00 am Take a small walk through the mountains, and watch a spectacular Sunrise. Walk through the village making photos of people doing their morning rituals and chores such as farming, milking goats, pounding rice etc.
09:00 am Breakfast
9.30 am Get feedback on your morning’s photography
10:00 am Quick dip in river followed by lunch.
01:00 pm Leaving to Palghar on Jeep.
03:30 pm Shuttle Train from Palghar Station to Virar. (Next shuttle at 06:00 pm)
This trip is priced at :- Rs 3500/- and is a 2 day 1 night stay inclusive of village activities, breakfast , lunch , dinner , accomodation , jeep ride to and from the village and different types of local chai .
